We at FrankBUILT Performance have designed this package for our budget minded 68RFE owners. In our experience much of the failures happen in the forward, overdrive drum assembly. If you are familiar with the 68RFE you know the valve body has many flaws that eventually causes internal transmission failure. Well much of the failures we have seen are in this drum. In many cases, the rest of the transmission still has a good bit of life left in it. With that said, we designed this package for the customer that needs their truck back on the road, has a good bit of mechanical ability, loves to DIY, and of course needs to do this on a budget. 

If you have the following codes, this SHOULD be the fix for you:

P0871 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch C Circuit Range/Performance
P0735 Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio
P0736 Gear 6 Incorrect Ratio

These codes indicate problems, slipping in the overdrive and underdrive clutches. You also likely need to address the SSV bore in the valve body. 

 

Please note: if you have ANY other P0700 codes, you have additional issues that this package may NOT fix. Reach out to us if you have any questions.


Included in this package:

-FrankBUILT Performance spec'd Stock+ input drum. This is a OE style drum with additional 2 clutches in the overdrive clutch pack for much need torque holding capacity using a billet Transgo OD pressure plate. All new seals, clutches, and snap rings are used in the assembly of this drum. Includes FBP spec'd UD, OD, and Rev clutch packs.

-Inspected and cleaned OEM input shaft (billet input shaft upgrades available), UD clutch hub, OD clutch hub, Reverse clutch hub

-Pump cover with new sealing o-ring and torque converter input seal

-Input shaft sealing rings


Core Exchange is REQUIRED!

 

Optionally if you have a P0740 Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Circuit/Open Malfunction, we would recommend adding our reman pump assembly and torque converter. We do not list the pump on the website so please contact us if you need one for your unit. If you have an 07.5-18 unit we can also build a TUNELESS pump & valve body.


We HIGHLY recommend upgrading your valve body when you are at this point. Again MANY of this 68RFE woes stem from the valve body. Here is a few links to our different options:
