Get rid of the problematic OEM steering box and upgrade to the PSC XD-GM Cylinder Assist Steering Gearbox for 1999-2010 GM 2500/3500 4x4 trucks.
This box comes ported for use with cylinder assist steering kits. The additional ports come capped so the box can be used with the standard steering setup.

PSC's XD-GM Steering Gearbox features a 45mm sector shaft with an improved roller bearing.
This prevents sector shaft side-to-side deflection and lower oil seal failure.
Larger sector shaft teeth and other internal components are increased in size to handle higher loads and larger tires.
